Archinal (L, 1-2), and Jobin
Dudla (W, 2-0), and Gardinier
They were missing three vital cogs in the Post machine while facing the toughest pitcher in the Amsterdam rec softball league. Danny Auricchio, Matt Beck and Vinny Fiorillo were all absent for game four vs the Sons of the American League and pitcher Al Dudla. However, with Charlie Archinal on the mound and a makeshift lineup the 701ers put up a valiant effort against the City League front runners before falling in 8 innings in an 3-2 loss. Al Dudla, the fireballing right hander for SAL pitched the first no-hitter against the Post in history, but needed 8 innings to get the win. That was mainly because of the effort by the Post's all-time win leader Charlie Archinal who was excellent in defeat, scattering 8 hits and allowing but 2 earned runs. With a tight hamstring, Archinal kept the huge underdog 701ers in the game until the very last out.

Camacho (L, 3-2), and Pacho

Archinal did that in winning fashion, spinning a 6 hitter en route to an 8-3 win. Charlie got plenty of offense from Scott Brennan who went 3 for 4 with a run scored and 3 rbis. Marty Tambasco and Vinny Fiorillo each chipped in with 2 singles, a run and an rbi as the Post improved to 2-3.

The Post's 3 game winning streak came to an ugly end and without a wimper in a 13-1 thrashing at the hands of Charlie's. With the Fiorillo-men down 4-1 entering the 7th Charlie's put up a 9 spot thanks in large part to some ugly Post fielding and some seeing eye hits. The 701er offense consisted of only 4 hits: two by Lorenzo Fiorillo, a triple by Shaun Krutz and a single by Marty Tambasco. With the loss, the Post fell to 6-5 on the year and 2-4 at Lynch #1 where they are hitting a meager .205.

Beck, Nelson (L. 2-3), Archinal (3) and M. Carter, Beck (2)
Entering game 14 vs
DePalma's the Post won 5 of their previous 6 games but their hot streak ended abruptly in a
6-4 loss. Danny Auricchio (2 for 3 with a run and rbi) and Lorenzo Fiorillo (double and single)
led a 9 hit 701er attack and despite outhitting DePalma's 9-7 they were outscored by two. The
loss dropped the Fiorillo-men to 8-6 with a tough part of the schedule still remaining.
GAME 15 Nelson (L, 2-4),
Archinal (1) and Beck Silva, Espado (W),
Jimenez (7) and Molina With 5 starters out
for game 15 vs the Lost Boyz the Post faced an uphill battle and 15 minutes into the game it was apparent
they were no match for the City League powerhouse. After scoring 12 runs in a first inning that
did not want to end, the Boyz cruised to a 15-3 romp over the 701ers. Skipper Vinny Fiorillo had
3 of the Post's 8 hits while son Lorenzo hit his 2nd homer of the year, a deep blast to center.
Mike Andrews has a 2 run triple as the Post fell to 8-7.
GAME 16 Nelson (L, 2-5),
and Jobin, Beck (6) Roe (W) and Julia They suffered their worst
defeat in their history, a 24-0 whitewashing at the hands of Emerald Cinema. A 12 run
first inning sealed their fate as the Post fell to 10-8. A double by Matt Beck and singles
by Charlie Archinal and Marty Tambasco were the only Post hits. GAME 17 Archinal (L, 6-4),
and Jobin Brinkman (W), and
Deemer Playing for their
playoff lives, the Post fell short to the number one team in the Class AA, Russo's, 7-5 and
ended the regular season 10-9. However, a playin game vs Charlies for the #8 seed gives the
Post hopes for making the playoffs. Danny Auricchio and Rick Jobin each had 2 singles, a run
scored and rbi. Lorenzo Fiorillo and Todd Mudoch each had 2 singles to lead a 13 hit Post
attack. GAME 18 Archinal (L, 6-5),
and Beck Majewski (W), and
Nazardowski Despite losing back to back games
the 701ers still had life for their 4th straight playoff appearance with a playin game vs Charlies. They lost
the first matchup with the youthful Charlies team back on July 18 when a 9 run seventh blew open a close game
on the way to a 13-1 rout. They didn't fare that much better, when trailing by two at 6-4 in the fourth inning
Charlies exploded for 6 runs on the way to a convincing 13-6 win. Lorenzo Fiorillo capped off an outstanding
year with his best game going 4 for 4 with a triple, homerun, three runs scored and two rbis. However, the loss
sealed the Post's fate in 2011 as they ended up at .500 with a 10-10 record.
